Review:
Very large modern pub
that has recently been extensively refurbished and is one of the most impressive bars on the Quayside.
The pub is
part of the Ultimate Leisure Plc chain. The bar
has an extension at the rear and a lounge
area downstairs. The main bar has a semi circular
bar with modern furnishings and a modern changeable
lighting system. There is plenty of floor space for
standing and leather backed seating around the walls. This
leads to another bar in a raised area at the rear
with similar modern décor and additional floor
space. There is further seating in this area
with high tables and chairs.
This area has large mirrors on the walls
and is nicely furnished. There is a small bar and
the floor is carpeted. There is also large windows
to one side that offers an impressive view of the
main part of the Quayside.
There is low drop
down lighting throughout giving a comfortable
atmosphere.
Downstairs there is a further bar that
is also furnished to a high standard and can also be
accessed from the main bar to the right hand side.
There is comfortable leather backed seating
downstairs with plenty of tables and chairs. There
is small spotlighting to the ceiling and a semi
circular stainless steel bar. The decoration is
predominantly of a purple colour.
There is an extensive seating area outside
at the side and to the front of the pub which is
used in fine weather. This has plenty of garden
bench type seating, tables and chairs &
heated lamps. Regular music is on play at most times
and a DJ is a feature on certain nights. The DJ is
situated in a raised area over the bar. The pub is
extremely busy at weekends and can also be busy
during the week. It is mainly frequented by the
younger crowd and people on nights out on the
Quayside. It has also been known to attract
celebrities including Newcastle footballers. There
are several widescreen TV's above the bar. A link cash machine is located in the main bar.
Disabled access to main bar is good with a designated
disabled toilet at the rear. It can be difficult to
the bar downstairs. Toilets are very smart and
clean.
Price:
Moderate
during the week. More expensive at weekends.
