Review:
Very modern bar
that is the sister pub to The Telegraph and located
in the up and coming Pudding Chare scene. It was
formerly known as the Nice Bar and has been given a
revamp in an attempt to attract new clientele. The
pub has a long narrow bar with comfortable leather
settee seating and solid pine tables, with swivel
seats. The decor is very smart with bright colours
and a stylish changeable lighting system throughout.
There are huge glass doors at the front that
give a
bright and airy feel to the place. There is brick
walling on one side with a combination of wooden and
stone tiling on the floor. Opposite to the bar there
is several small booths and some further seating
with tables and chairs. At the front next to the
main entrance there is an large open area with some
high stools that can be used for standing. Regular
music is on play at most times with a juke box
located opposite to the bar.
A DJ is featured on 4
nights a week Wednesday - Saturday. There is an indie and rock 'n' roll night on a Wednesday,
Thursday 'Up Front' - Electro house with DJ Lady Kay, Friday 'Chart Tunes' and Dance Classics with DJ Glen, Saturday 'Music that Moves'
with DJ Michael Watts and Kenton Crosby.
The pub attracts a
mixed clientele including those heading from the Bigg
Market to the Quayside. It should become more
popular as it gets more established. There is a
small outside seating area to one side that is
heated and floodlit in the evening.
Disabled access is
very good as the bar is all on the one level.
There is also a designated toilet to the rear.
Toilets are small and clean. The bar is air
conditioned throughout.
Price:
Moderate.
