Review:

Medium sized pub on 3 levels with four small bars that has recently reverted back from Slice to its former name Flynns. From the entrance a small flight of stairs lead up to the main bar that has a wooden floor and a small bar. There is limited seating by the window that affords a nice view of the river Tyne. There is also some more comfortable leather backed seating along the walls. Opposite the bar there is a large standing area that has shelving to one side. A widescreen TV is also located beside the bar.

The decor is a mixture of coffee and cream pastel shades. There is small spotlighting to the ceiling with some uplighting fixtures on the walls. On the way to the upstairs bar there is a small bottle bar on the landing that is usually open at the weekend. The upstairs bar is decorated in the same style and there is once again a small bar. There are some tables and chairs by the window with more comfortable seating around the walls. From this area there is an even better view of the Tyne and the development of the new Sage music centre across the river. Several mini TV screens are attached to the walls above the window.

Downstairs from the main bar there is a basement bar that can be accessed from inside or from a side entrance to the left hand side of the main entrance. There is a small bar with a wooden floor and a large area for standing or dancing. Live music events are held in this area every Thursdy night. Regular music is on play at most times with a party DJ a regular feature from 8pm on a Monday- Saturday. All live sports are also shown with live football featured. The pub attracts a young crowd at the weekend and is also popular with quayside revellers. It can get lively on the weekend but can be a little quieter early on in the week. The bar is fully air conditioned throughout. A free function room is available for hire on request.

Disabled access to the bar can be difficult as stairs lead to all levels. Toilets are small and clean.

Price: Reasonable.
