Review:
Medium sized
traditional Newcastle pub in an elevated position
overlooking the River Tyne.
The pub has a small
semi-circular bar with a wooden floor. From the main
entrance there is a small raised area with some
tables and chairs and high stools next to the bar.
This leads through to a lower area with additional
tables and chairs. There is also some high stools
next to the windows at the front of the bar where
you can admire the excellent view of the Quayside.
The decor is quite basic with mainly posters and
advertisements of live music events covering
the walls. Regular music is on play at most times
with a free jukebox situated to the left hand side of
the bar playing an eclectic range of music.
The pub is popular with
locals, students and visitors to the Quayside. Outside the pub to the
left of the main entrance there is a small beer
garden with wooden tables and benches. There is an
additional area on the bank opposite the pub, where
drinkers often congregate.
Disabled access to main
bar very good but difficult to the toilets which are
down a flight of stairs. Toilets are small and
reasonable.
Price:
Moderate.
