Medium sized pub with
an L shaped wooden bar and a part carpeted and
wooden floor. There is plenty of seating
with tables
and chairs around the walls and to the rear of the
pub. In the centre of the bar there is also a large
standing area. The large windows to the front makes
the pub very bright and airy. There is a small
fireplace to the rear and a selection of beer and
old Newcastle pictures on the walls. Large mirrors
to each side of the bar and to the rear give a more
expansive feel to the place.
Live sport is shown on
a Big screen TV with all live football and six
nations rugby featured. There is also several widescreen plasma TV's located throughout the bar
which makes this an excellent place for watching live sport. Regular music is on play
at most times. Several games machines are dotted
about. Cash back facility is available. A lively
but comfortable atmosphere prevails most of the
time with a mixed clientele of students & locals
and business people. Can get very busy due to its
position near the metro and bus station and the
university. The bar is fully air conditioned with
ceiling fans used at certain times. A heated part
covered beer alley is open at times from 5.30pm - 8pm Monday
- Thursday for smokers.
Disabled access very
good to main bar and toilets. Toilets are small
and in good order.
Price:
Reasonable.
