Review:

New bar that has recently been acquired by Head of Steam and the name has been changed from Shamrox to LYH. The bar was formerly known as The Tavern and previous names have been City Tavern, Huxters, Stepps and Shamrox. The bar has been given a full refurbishment throughout and there is now 6 cask beers available with more foreign beers on offer. The main bar downstairs has several widescreen plasma TV's with a large drop down screen for Live sporting events. There are a number of TV's upstairs also showing the sporting action. An action movie night is also held every week.

There is plenty of seating with three leather backed booths to the right of the main entrance and opposite to the bar. There is also a number of high table and chairs and leather settees. The upstairs room has a small bar that is open every day and is mainly used for diners. This area has plenty of seating with tables and chairs and more comfortable leather settees. There is a pool table located at the rear (20p per play). The bar is decked out in a modern style with exposed brickwork and spotlighting to the ceiling. There are flyers adorning the walls for previous Head of Steam events.

Regular music is on play at most times with a DJ a feature on certain nights. An open MIC is held every week on a Wednesday night from 8pm with Owen Davies. Bookings for parties and functions can be arranged The bar attracts a mixed clientele of shoppers, diners and sporting enthusiasts. It can get very busy at times especially at lunchtime and at weekends and is especially busy on match days. The excellent range of cask and foreign beers on offer should further increase it's popularity.

Disabled access can be difficult as steps at the main entrance. Toilets are small and clean.
