Pub Crawls "Upmarket"


Listed below is a new "Upmarket" Pub Crawl. We have added this upmarket Pub Crawl on request of our visitors to Pubs Newcastle. This Pub Crawl includes a selection of stylish bars with a recommended place to eat at during the crawl. You may pass a number of other bars during the crawl which you could also try out, but we would strongly recommend you stick to those mentioned. "UPMARKET" PUB CRAWL    -----  CENTRAL STATION & QUAYSIDE

Start this crawl at Apartment

which is just along from the Central Station - enjoy a cocktail or two at this stylish bar - you may spot a celebrity or Newcastle footballer as this bar is popular with VIP's/celebrities.
On leaving the bar turn left along Collingwood Street. After a short walk of about 20 metres you will find a new bar called Perdu

This new bar is ultra stylish and is a popular venue on the weekend.

On leaving the bar, turn left again and continue walking past the bottom end of the Bigg Market. Continue walking past 'Flares' until you reach the next bar Ruby Lounge/Attic
Attic
This bar has 3 floors with a night club at the top and is a popular venue on most nights.

After leaving Attic turn left and cross over by the traffic lights and you will see The Living Room
The Living Room
on the other side of Grey Street.
This smart and stylish venue has a basement bar that is popular with the ultra chic crowd. There is a varied wine and cocktail menu.

After leaving turn left to the corner and left again. You will notice Box in the distance, about 50 metres up the road. You must go here on your crawl as the bar is one of the largest in Newcastle and attracts an upmarket crowd on the weekend. Walk up to the roundabout and cross over at the traffic lights.

Bar/night club has Live music on at the weekend with happy hour drinks available. There is a DJ playing funky, soul & groove at the weekend. The night club is open until 2am.

After leaving Box cross back over at the traffic lights and head back the way you came until you reach the top of the bank, Dean Street that leads down to the Quayside. Cross over the road and The Lodge is directly opposite on the corner.
The Lodge
The Lodge
is part owned by Ant & Dec and you may see them in the bar if they are not running around the Australian jungle. This bar is always busy on the weekend with a good atmosphere and there are often queues outside.

On leaving The Lodge turn right and then right again and head down the bank to The Quayside. If you fancy something to eat now then you are in the right place with several restaurants to choose from.

If you take the first right along The Side there is a nice Tapas bar/restaurant called El Torero (See picture to right of page).

If you are still in the drinking mood cross over the road and visit Hoko-10

This stylish bar has 2 levels and a buy one get one free offer on drinks at the weekend. There is a DJ on play that attracts a steady crowd of revellers.

On leaving Hoko 10 carry on down the towards the Quayside. Walk past 'Akenside Traders' and cross over the road. You will see a couple of good Italian restaurants Unos and Rumpolis. Carry on past these places and the next bar on the left is Chase

Chase also attracts footballers/celebs on the weekend and is very busy due to its central location on the Quayside.

After leaving Chase turn left and follow the river along toward your final destination. The final bar Pitcher & Piano
Pitcher & Piano
is definately worth the walk being about 200 metres along the side of the river.
Pitcher & Piano is opposite the Millennium Bridge and is exceptionally busy on most nights. It attracts an upmarket crowd with a range of cocktails available.
If you still haven't eaten then there is another Tapas bar La Tasca opposite to this bar. This is the end of your pub crawl and you should have enjoyed some of the more upmarket places in Newcastle.

If you fancy taking in a club then you need to re-trace your steps back along the river and you will find a selection to choose from with Sea a popular choice with the upmarket crowd.
