Review:

Medium sized pub first established in 1855 that has an L shaped wooden bar and a wooden floor. There is plenty of seating throughout with wooden tables and chairs. The decor is mainly wooden panelling with separate partitioned areas and orange colours on the walls. There are several old bottles and jugs strewn about the place.

The large windows to the front provide natural light to the bar during the day. In the evening there are low drop down lights by the windows and bar that create a cosy atmosphere. There is an open fireplace is at either end of the bar with a real coal fire. A large drop down screen is located to the left of the main entrance, which features all live football and six nations rugby.

Regular music is on play at most times. Several games machines are dotted about. Folk night every Wednesday from 8pm. A quiz night is held every Thursday starting at 8.30pm with beer tokens to the winner. The pub attracts a steady local clientele and students, being close to the University. It is also a popular place with those working at the Manor Business Park nearby. It can be quiet during the day but is more busy on the weekend. A pleasant place to enjoy a relaxing pint.

Disabled access to the main bar is very good with the pub all on the one level. Toilets are small and clean.

Price: Reasonable.
