Review:
Smart designer bar &
lounge that is well suited to the upmarket Jesmond
scene and continues the Hotel and bar theme on
Osborne Road. There are two main entrances that lead
through to a large room with a long metallic bar.
There is plenty of seating throughout with tables
and chairs, and ample standing room. To the left
hand side of the entrance there is an area that is
used as a lounge diner with a further bar. This has plenty of tables and
chairs for diners with some more comfortable lounge
seating by the window. There is also
a widescreen TV in the centre of the room.
The bar
is bright and airy during the day as there are large
windows to the front, and in the evening the wooden
blinds are drawn giving a more subdued lighting to
the bar. The decor is a mixture of blue, purple and
cream colours with smart uplighting fixtures and
modern pictures on the walls. At the far right hand
side of the bar there is a part wooden floor and
tiled area with tables and chairs and a huge drop
down screen. There is also a small raised area that
is carpeted and has comfortable lounge seating and a
widescreen TV. A further large drop down screen is
also located by the entrance to the restaurant. Live
Sports are shown with all live football and six
nations rugby featured on 3 big screens and 8 plasma screens.
Regular music is on play at
most times. Outside there is a large seating area
with tables and chairs , umbrellas and heated lamps,
that is always busy in fine weather. The bar is very
lively at most times and is especially busy on the
weekend. It attracts an upmarket crowd and is also
popular with students and hotel guests in the area.
The live football also attracts a steady crowd
throughout the week. Disabled access is very good
with a designated disabled toilet to the rear of the
pub. Toilets located at the rear are smart and
