Very large former 'Wengers' building that is part of the Stonegate pubs chain and was formerly Yates's.

The bar has recently been refurbished and transformed from a Yates bar to the second Slug and Lettuce in Newcastle.

The exceptionally fine features and impressive exterior is retained.

The pub is very popular at most times with a wide variety of reasonably priced meals.

There are three floors with a bar on all floors. The main bar on the ground floor has a long marble topped bar and plenty of seating with high tables and chairs.

There is also ample standing room. It has large glass windows to the front which gives a bright and airy feel to the bar during the day.

The pub is decked out in a modern style with red and cream pastel colours that give a warm feel to the place.

There is stylish large cylindrical lighting to the ceiling and part wooden and carpeted floor.

The upper floors are accessed by a large staircase on the right hand side of the bar and there is also a lift at the other side of the pub for disabled access.

There is free hire of a function room for parties with a choice of buffet menus and DJ available on request (contact the bar manager).

Live Music is a feature on selected nights. Regular music is on play at most times with a DJ booth located near to the main entrance.

Big screen Live football is shown on a drop down screen and there are several widescreen TV's throughout the bar.

Very popular pub with young crowd at weekends and a mixed clientele of locals, business people and students during the week.

Can get very busy and has a good atmosphere at all times. Free WiFi throughout bar.

Outside seating area which is open in fine weather. Children allowed.

Disabled access is very good with a designated disabled toilet on the ground floor and a lift to all floors. Toilets are downstairs and are large and very clean.

Price: Moderate.
