Large pub that was
formerly known as The Vault. It has recently been
extended taking over the space occupied by two other
bars, Ram Jam inn and Steam and has been given a
superb upgrade. The bar is part of the Ultimate
leisure g roup. The furnishings and decor are
immaculate with a glass roof and large mirrors and
shrubs down one side. This gives a more spacious
feel to the place. The
lighting is kept to a minimum with large cylindrical
and low drop down lighting over the bar.
The bar was previously
advertised as Newcastle's number 1 supporters bar
and apart from the new stylish look it still
continues with the same entertainment theme on
match days. The pub has three bars with the main bar
to the right of the entrance and 2 further bars at
the bottom of a central arcade area. The arcade
area is mainly for standing and it is usually
packed out with supporters when live football is
shown.
There is limited seating with a small area to the
rear of the pub that consists of low
tables and chairs and high stools next to shelving
opposite to the bar. There is additional seating
in the two bar downstairs.
Big screen sports are shown on a huge drop down screen
above the arcade area
and a number of widescreen TV's, with all Toon Sky matches
featured. Live entertainment and special reductions,
including "Top Shock Jock Exotic Dancers" every
Saturday and all Newcastle United home games (pints £1.90 excluding Guinness, bottles £2.00). There
are steps behind the bar that lead up to two semi
circular features where the topless dancers now
perform. The
bar also has several scantily clad bar staff serving
drinks. Look out for the "Geordie Dancer" who also
performs on match days.
Regular music is on
play at most times. There is a DJ booth located
next to the bar with a DJ a regular feature on certain nights. R'n'B night every Monday (free vouchers to Blu Bambu
and selected drinks £2.00). Friday & Saturday 2 different styles of music playing in the rooms above and below up until 3am.
The atmosphere
is quieter during the week early on but is one of
the in places to go at the weekend when the bar
usually gets
packed out. It is also extremely busy on match days. Is
frequented mainly by Bigg Market revellers, a younger
crowd and football supporters on match days.
Disabled access very good with a special
disabled toilet at the rear. Toilets are medium
sized and clean.
Price:
Expensive.
