Review:

New addition to the Newcastle scene that opened on 14/12/2007.

This Restobar was formerly called Bar M and has also been previously known as Masters. It offers a dancing lounge, Belvedere suite and will have Newcastle's first Monotel. The Monotel will feature a whirlpool jacuzzi, rain room shower pod and 24 hr concierge service.

On entering the place there is a long bar to the right hand side with a further small bar to the rear. The bar has been decked out in a very smart and upmarket syle and has an oriental feel with a wooden floor. To the rear of the bar there is the DJ booth with regular music on play at most times. There is limited seating throughout and stairs at the rear lead to the toilets on the upper level.

I was somewhat disappointed on my first visit to Tup Tup Palace as there was a lack of atmosphere in the place and the prices of drinks on offer (2 half pints of Caffreys £4.40) would not make me rush to go back. It has to be the one of the most expensive bars for a beer in town and I think that they will find it difficult to attract regular custom at these sky high prices. The management are obviously trying to make the place exclusive but given the lower prices in bars nearby I cannot see many people spending a night here. It will certainly not appeal to the student crowd or local drinkers therefore I don't think it will be busy apart from maybe weekends.

A new indoor/outdoor drinking/dining area 'Loja' is now open with table service and a smoking terrace. This new space on the upper floor above Tup Tup Palace serves brunch, lunch & dinner from 11:30am till late.

Disabled access may be difficult to toilets upstairs. Toilets are smart and clean - using pails for urinals - Is this designer?.
