Review:
Very Large JD Wetherspoons pub
with a palatial entrance and huge
rooms. A large staircase with a beautiful stained
glass window at the top leads to an upstairs bar and
eating area.
There are two further bars downstairs.
The rear ground floor bar is bright and airy due to a perspex roof.
There are plenty of aluminium tables and chairs in
this area. Two smaller lounge areas leading off from here
have comfortable seating and a cosy atmosphere
and are popular with diners. The other bar is huge
with a high ceiling and tall pillars that are a
notable feature. There is some seating to
the front and plenty of standing room. Also near to the entrance is a
small family room where you can
have a meal with the family until 5pm.
Live sports including live
football is now shown on a large drop down screen in
the main bar area and there is also several widescreen TV's. The pub is very popular bar with a mixed
clientele of students, locals, business crowd and
tourists. It is extremely busy at all times especially at the weekend and on Thursday Curry night.
Quiz night every Monday night from 8pm.
There is a small outside seating area to the front of the pub that is open to 6pm.
Disabled access is
excellent with an entrance at the side door - ring bell and a designated disabled toilet at the rear. Toilets on both floors are smart and clean.
