Large historical old
Newcastle pub with ornate frontage.
Part of the Wessex Taverns chain. Full of
character with the main bar leading to a cavern style
bar at the rear. There is plenty of seating with
ropework interlaced around the tables and chairs. The pub has a
high ceiling with wooden beams and a stone floor.
Very stylishly decorated in a nautical theme
with huge lanterns for lighting.
A small brig
area to the right of the main entrance has some high
tables and chairs and a small fireplace in one
corner. It also has old nautical pictures adorning
the walls. Cash back facility is available.
Regular music is on play on most nights with a DJ a regular feature. Sunday - Promiscuous with House music and resident DJ's, Monday - Indie night, Tuesday - acoustic session night, Wednesday - 80's and 90's, Thursdays - party music,
Friday & Saturday - Retro & Funky House.
Small courtyard to rear with tables and seating is
open in fine weather with BBQ's served. Very busy at the weekend but quieter through the week early doors.
Disabled access is very good with an outside
ramp. Toilets at the rear are small and
clean.
