Review:

Large bar is housed in a grade 2 listed building that was occupied formerly by Thomas Bewick. The bar which was more recently known as Coco V offers a good selection of cask ales and meals should become a popular addition to this area with The Forth Hotel just opposite. The decor and furnishings are of a traditional style with exposed brickwork, original tiling, wooden floor and low drop down lighting. There is plenty of seating throughout with tables and chairs in a raised area at the front and more comfortable leather settees in the centre of the bar. There is also some high chairs next to the bar.

The large windows to the front and side also make the place bright and airy through the day.

Regular music is on play at most times

Food is served both in the bar and in the basement dining and cinema room, which is available for private hire. The bar attracts a mixed clientele of business people, students and people making there way to and from the railway station which is nearby.

Disabled access is very good with a designated disabled toilet to the rear. The toilets are smart and clean.

Price:
Moderate.
