Haymarket/Gallowgate
The Haymarket is situated at the top end of the main shopping area in Newcastle and is well served by public transport with the Metro Station and Bus Station close at hand.

The Civic Centre and Hancock Museum are two distinctive buildings that grace this area as well as the two universities of Newcastle and Northumbria.

The Haymarket area is very popular with the student crowd and as a result most of the pubs can get really busy, especially at the weekend.

The Gallowgate area is close to the Newcastle United football stadium and there are lots of football supporters frequenting the bars on match days.

You can find a host of pubs all with their own distinctive character on Percy Street, which runs the length of the Haymarket into Gallowgate.

In the centre there is access to the Eldon Square Shopping Centre and with Chinatown just up the road, it makes an ideal place to pop in for a drink before dining out in one of the several Chinese restaurants situated on Stowell Street.

Mean Eyed Cat and The Town Mouse Ale House are two micro brew bars in this area that are a must visit with an excellent range of keg beers and cask ales.

The Haymarket & Gallowgate area has a welcoming, lively atmosphere and with the diverse range of bars, pubs and restaurants located in this area, it is well worth a visit.
